Banham Academy Raises The Bar Again with IET Re-Accreditation

Banham Academy has once again strengthened its position as a leaader in fire and security apprenticeship training, securing a further three years of accreditation from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). This re-accreditation recognises the Academy's continued excellence in delivering the Fire, Emergency and Security Systems (FESS) Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship - a programme already celebrated for setting the benchmark within the industry.

Trailblazing reputation

As the first provider in the sector to be approved by the IET for both the content and delivery of the FESS apprenticeship, Banham Academy has maintained its trailblazing reputation. The renewed accreditation confirms that the programme continues to meet internationally recognised standards, ensuring apprentices graduate with the skills, knowledge, and professional credibility required to excel in their careers.

A key benefit of this accreditation is that all apprentices trained through the Academy can apply for Engineering Technician (EngTech TMIET) registration - a highly respected professional credential that enhances their employability across the industry. This recognition also gives employers a competitive advantage, demonstrating that their workforce meets the rigorous standards set by the IET.

Celebrating achievement

The Academy is also celebrating the success of apprentice Gianluca Mori, who has officially achieved Engineering Technician status. This milestone reflects both his personal dedication and the high quality of training and support provided at Banham Academy. The IET’s accreditation process assesses not only programme content but also the strength of mentoring and the practical experience apprentices receive - areas in which the Academy continues to excel.

Kevin Faulkner, Head of Banham Academy, praised the achievement, noting that the continued recognition from the IET reinforces the strength and value of the apprenticeship programme. He highlighted that the accreditation ensures apprentices leave with greater confidence and the industry‑validated competencies needed to build successful engineering careers.

The IET also commended the Academy for effectively aligning its programme with industry needs, academic standards, and professional competencies, reflecting Banham’s ongoing commitment to delivering outstanding training for the next generation of fire and security engineers.
